R1 HEIs shine in 2026 Licensure Examination for Criminologists
Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Region I once again demonstrated academic excellence as their graduates secured top spots and institutional rankings in the 2026 Licensure Examination for Criminologists conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission.
Leading the roster of topnotchers is Katrina Jean G. Jimenez of Phinma- University College Urdaneta, who ranked 4th place with a rating of 92.45%.
She was followed by Tristian Earl I. Yarte of University of Northern Philippines (UNP), who placed 5th with 92.20%, and Segundo C. Castañeda Jr., also from UNP, who secured 10th place with 91.85%.
Region I institutions also performed strongly in the list of Top Performing Schools across different categories.
Under the 200 and more examinees category, UNP ranked 8th with an 84.35% passing rate, while Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (Main Campus) ranked 10th with 80.54%.
In the 100–199 examinees category, Data Center College of the Philippines – Laoag secured 6th place with a 93.60% passing rate.
Meanwhile, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Mid-La Union Campus placed 2nd in the 51–100 examinees category with 98.39% passing rate.
In the 30–50 examinees category, St. Louis College ranked 5th with a 91.43% passing rate.
These achievements highlight the continued commitment of Region I HEIs to delivering quality criminology education and producing competent professionals who will contribute to the country’s law enforcement and public safety sectors.
