CHED RO1 welcomes New Education Supervisor
The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office I (CHED RO1) welcomes a new addition to its roster of Education Supervisors as Dr. Cherrie Melanie Ancheta-Diego, CESO III, Director IV, formally inducted Ms. Joy Ann L. Gurtiza on April 20, 2026.
Ms. Gurtiza will oversee Tourism and Hospitality programs. Prior to joining CHED RO1, she served as Tourism Operations Officer II for the Provincial Government of La Union.
With 17 years of dedicated service in the provincial government, she brings a strong track record in strengthening industry linkages, coordinating cross-sector initiatives, and advancing workforce development in the tourism sector.
In her new role, Ms. Gurtiza will lead policy implementation, quality assurance processes, and partnership-building efforts that align CHED standards with regional tourism needs.
She will work closely with higher education institutions (HEIs), local government units, and industry partners to ensure that graduates are well-prepared for careers in hotels, travel operations, heritage conservation, and sustainable tourism development.
