Several higher education institutions (HEIs) in Region 1 improved their standing in the newly-released 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings, with a total of 13 schools advancing in the latest list.
The list, formerly named as THE Impact Rankings, measures institutionsโ contributions toward achieving the United Nationsโ (UN) 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The gains underscore the growing efforts of Northern Luzon HEIs in achieving sustainability, social impact, climate resilience, and community engagement.
Mariano Marcos State University and Lyceum-Northwestern University emerged as the region’s top performers, both placing in the 601-800 bracket globally.
Meanwhile, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, University of Northern Philippines, Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, University of Eastern Pangasinan, University of Luzon, Urdaneta City University, Pangasinan State University, Panpacific University, Inc., Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation, and WCC Aeronautical and Technological College, Inc. were all ranked within the 1001-1500 band. Universidad de Dagupan was placed in the 1501+ bracket.
