Ever wondered what the iconic ASEAN Emblem represents? Beyond its familiar circle and bundle of padi stalks are symbols of unity, peace, courage, purity, and prosperity—values that reflect ASEAN’s shared vision for the region.

🌾 Ten stalks of paddy – symbolize the founding fathers’ vision of ASEAN unity and solidarity among the countries of Southeast Asia.
🔵 Blue – represents peace and stability
🔴 Red – symbolizes courage and dynamism
⚪ White – stands for purity
🟡 Yellow – signifies prosperity
⭕ Circle – represents the unity of ASEAN

💡The original ASEAN emblem was designed by Mohammad Radzi Hanif of Malaysia. He created the winning design as a 22-year-old design student at the MARA Institute of Technology during a regional design competition held from 1977 to 1978. His design was later adapted into the ASEAN emblem we know today.
