𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗗 𝗥𝗢𝗜, 𝗨𝗜 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻

More than 100 representatives from higher education institutions (HEIs) and partner organizations across Region I gathered virtually on August 6, 2026 for the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings Information Session, jointly organized by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office I (CHED ROI) and UI GreenMetric as part of the Office’s ASEAN Month celebration.

The activity was conducted under Project LINK for ASEAN 2026: Leveraging International Networks and Knowledge, CHED ROI’s month-long internationalization initiative aimed at strengthening regional cooperation, fostering global engagement, and deepening ASEAN awareness among Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Region I.

The program commenced with opening remarks from Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., M.I.A., Chairperson of UI GreenMetric, who underscored the vital role of higher education institutions in advancing sustainability and addressing global challenges through collaborative action. He emphasized that the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings serve not only as a benchmarking platform but also as a catalyst for universities to continuously improve their sustainability performance and strengthen their contribution to sustainable development.

Representing CHED ROI on behalf of Director Dr. Cherrie Melanie Ancheta-Diego, CESO III, Supervising Education Program Specialist Engr. Angelica Q. Dolores welcomed the participants and reaffirmed the Office’s commitment to promoting internationalization and sustainability among higher education institutions in Region I.

She highlighted that initiatives such as the UI GreenMetric Information Session complement CHED RO I’s A.C.H.I.E.V.E. Agenda by encouraging institutions to adopt globally recognized sustainability frameworks while expanding international partnerships and collaborations.

The information session featured two distinguished resource speakers from UI GreenMetric. Ms. Sabrina Hikmah Ramadianti, S.Si., Manager of Program, Partnerships, and Communications, introduced participants to the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, discussing its vision, objectives, and the benefits of participation for higher education institutions seeking to strengthen their sustainability initiatives and global engagement.

Meanwhile, Rahmi, S.Hum., M.Sc., Ph.D., Manager of Operations, Data, and Service Development, answered questions from participants on the ranking methodology, assessment indicators, submission process, and best practices for institutional participation.

The session equipped participants with practical guidance on integrating sustainability into campus governance, infrastructure, education, research, waste management, energy and climate action, water conservation, transportation, and community engagement.

As CHED ROI continues its ASEAN Month celebration, Project LINK will feature a series of internationalization initiatives that promote knowledge exchange, strategic partnerships, and regional cooperation, enabling HEIs in Region I to become more globally connected and sustainability-driven institutions.
