𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗗 𝗥𝗢𝟭 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗔

To formally transfer the responsibility of handling the Maritime programs to the Maritime Industry Authority
(MARINA), the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office I (CHED RO1) facilitated a turnover ceremony at the CHED Conference Hall in the City of San Fernando, La Union on February 23, 2026.

The turnover is in accordance with RA 12021 or the Magna Carta of Filipino Seafarers.

The ceremony served as the highlight of the Implementation of the MARINA-CHED Transition Plan Meeting.

The program began with acknowledgement of participants by Dr. Myrelle Faith D. Mina, Education Supervisor II.

Dr. Cherrie Melanie Ancheta-Diego, CHED ROI Director IV, welcomed the attendees and emphasized inter-agency collaboration in ensuring a smooth transfer of responsibilities to the MARINA during her opening remarks.

Dr. Angelica Q. Dolores, Supervising Education Program Specialist, presented the background of Maritime Higher Education Institutions in Region I.

Dr. Danilo B. Bose, Chief Education Program Specialist, discussed the Section 7 of the CHED-MARINA Transition Plan, outlining the framework and guidelines for implementation.

The activity concluded with acceptance remarks from Atty. Fernan H. Cabral, Regional Director MARINA Regional Office I and II, and a closing message from Dr. Bose.

They both re-affirmed their agencies’ commitment to strengthening maritime education in the region.
