𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗗 𝗥𝗢𝗜-𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗔 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗡𝗪𝗨’𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀

The monitoring team of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office I (CHED ROI) and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) conducted a joint visit at the Northwestern University (NWU), Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, February 10-13, 2026.

The activity aimed to assess the compliance of the Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) and Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE) programs with the relevant CHED-MARINA Memorandum Circulars governing maritime education.

The evaluation team was composed of Dr. Angelica Q. Dolores, Supervising Education Program Specialist of CHED ROI, Capt. Samuel Lou L. Sedurante, Ms. Nona W. Marquez, and Ms. Victoria Dela Cruz of MARINA.

The results of the evaluation were discussed with Northwestern University officials during the exit conference, and recommendations were provided to ensure continued adherence to maritime education standards.
