The Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU)-Laoag and Pangasinan State University (PSU)-Bayambang have been recognized as Regional Centers of Excellence (COEs) in Teacher Education for 2026.

MMSU-Laoag and PSU-Bayambang are among the eight institutions designated as Regional COEs by the Teacher Education Council (TEC) during its First Council Meeting for 2026 held at the Professional Regulation Commissionโ€“National Capital Region Office in Quezon City on June 3.

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 11713, or the Excellence in Teacher Education Act of 2022, the designated COEs have demonstrated outstanding performance across the key pillars of teacher education, including faculty qualifications, student and graduate outcomes, instruction, research, facilities, student development, teacher preparation, and community engagement.

As Regional COEs, the institutions are expected to serve as partners of the TEC in advancing excellence in teacher education through leadership, collaboration, and the sharing of knowledge and best practices.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office I commended MMSU-Laoag and PSU-Bayambang for this significant achievement as the recognition not only brings honor to the respective institutions but also strengthens Region I’s reputation as a hub for quality teacher education and educational excellence.
