Calasiao, Pangasinan — The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office I (CHEDRO1) is conducting the second day of its Lifelong Learning Summit today, July 29, 2026, as it holds a workshop led by facilitators Chief of the Non-Conventional Higher Education Division (NHD) Dr. Melquiades C. Ancheta and Member of the Technical Panel for Open Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) Dr. Ninia Inoncillo-Calaca.

A total of 40 participants from 13 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the Ilocos Region are participating in the workshop to accelerate their institutions’ efforts to offer ODeL and the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP).

“One of our deliverables is that we need to come up with a lifelong learning framework and the other is to establish a Regional Lifelong Learning Advisory Council,” CHED RO1 Director Dr. Cherrie Melanie Ancheta-Diego, CESO III, said in her opening remarks.

“Our advocacy must be very strong, through social media, television, radio, and, most importantly, through our schools,” she added.

The workshop forms part of CHEDRO1’s continuing efforts to strengthen lifelong learning initiatives and expand access to flexible and inclusive higher education opportunities in the region.
