The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office I (CHED ROI), led by Director IV Dr. Cherrie Melanie Ancheta-Diego, CESO III, participated in the Regional Executive Briefing on Gender-Responsive Leadership and Governance held on July 23, 2026, at the Puerto de San Juan Beach Resort Hotel, San Juan, La Union.
Director Ancheta-Diego underscored the importance of sustained partnerships among government agencies, higher education institutions, local governments, and development partners in embedding gender responsiveness in governance and institutional development.
CHED ROIβs participation reaffirms its commitment to strengthening GAD mainstreaming in higher education through inclusive policies, empowered academic communities, and initiatives that contribute to a more equitable and gender-responsive society.
The briefing gathered regional leaders, including heads of Regional Line Agencies (RLAs), Local Government Units, State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), and private sector representatives, to strengthen collaboration and advance Gender and Development (GAD) initiatives across Region I.
Representing CHED ROIβs Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) were Dr. Angelica Q. Dolores and Dr. Ricky A. Cera, who joined discussions on strengthening gender-responsive policies and practices.
The activity featured sessions from GAD experts, including Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) Chief GAD Specialist Mr. Kim Harold T. Peji, RGADC Chairperson Dr. Teresita A. Tabaog, and PCW Executive Director Ms. Nharleen Santos-Millar. Discussions highlighted the role of leadership, policy implementation, and institutional transformation in advancing gender equality and empowerment.
