𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐃 𝐑𝐎𝟏 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐎𝐖𝐖𝐀’𝐬 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐚 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝

Because of its outstanding efforts in expanding access to education, skills development, and lifelong learning opportunities for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families in the region, the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office I (CHED RO1) received the Sinagtala Award from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office 1 (OWWA RWO1) during the 31st Migrant Workers Day Celebration on June 11, 2026, at the Aureo Hotel and Resort in the City of San Fernando, La Union.

The event gathered government agencies, local government units, migrant worker advocates, and partner organizations in recognition of individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions to the welfare and empowerment of OFWs.

According to the citation, CHED RO1 was recognized for its unwavering commitment to academic excellence and community engagement, which has helped empower OFWs and their families to pursue personal growth, resilience, and self-sufficiency through expanded access to higher education and learning opportunities.

The award also acknowledged CHED RO1 as a trusted partner of OWWA RWO I in advancing human capital development and creating pathways toward a brighter future for migrant workers and their loved ones.

Dr. Cherrie Melanie Ancheta-Diego, CESO III, CHED RO1 Regional Director , said that the award would further inspire the agency to pursue innovative and inclusive programs that uplift communities and expand educational opportunities throughout the region.

Dr. Danilo B. Bose, Chief Education Program Specialist, and Dr. Al Gerald S. Barde, Education Supervisor II, represented CHED RO1 and received the plaque of recognition.
