The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 1 (CHED RO1), headed by Dr. Cherrie Melanie Ancheta-Diego, CESO III, participated in the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – Ilocos Norte Field Office Industry Tripartite Council (ITC) First Semestral Meeting in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte on June 30, 2026.
Education Supervisor II Joy Ann L. Gurtiza served as one of the resource speakers, delivering an overview of the Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) inspection and assessment procedures, and explaining how a cross-sector approach can co-create workforce-sustainability plans.
The session gathered officers and members from hotels and restaurants, education, and construction sectors, alongside representatives from SSS, DPWH, DepEd, and DOLE-Regional Office 1. The diverse forum focused on aligning workforce development with sustainable collaboration across sectors, emphasizing practical pathways for students and employers alike.
Beyond the technical discussions, panelists shared insights on social protection, infrastructure-aligned workforce standards, and regional labor-market trends. CHED-RO1’s ongoing initiatives to expand upskilling opportunities and strengthen multi-stakeholder partnerships were also highlighted as essential to delivering sustainable, industry-relevant outcomes across education, industry, and public services.
